LUSH. Why did we choose to celebrate LUSHNESS during Portland Design Week, a week in which the city fills with highly edited designers who live minimally and value the beauty of restraint?
1. THIS PLACE. As a designer it's hard not to be influenced by the wildness that surrounds our city. Rain. Grow. Rain. Grow. That's what our little slice of the earth just does.
2. TREND. We believe ornament is trending up. Some other Portlanders think so too: look no further than the latest Guerrilla Development, The Fair-Haired Dumbbell, of which we're a big fan.
3. INDOOR PLANTS ARE SO CUUUUUTE!!!!! Can we be this simple?
At any rate, everyone needs to indulge in a little exuberance from time to time, and we prefer a healthful dose of locally-made beauty to satisfy our need for LUSHNESS. Jewelry maker Natalie Joy will come together with Revolution Design House in a jungle of hand cut brass, douglas fir, ash, and those teeny tiny succulents we just can't get enough of. Stop by during our Design Week Open House Wednesday, April 26 from 4-7pm and enter to win a Boxcar Planter or a 4-leaf Philodendron Vine. Or come by anytime between April 19 - May 14. (note...we've extended this--we can't bear to take it down just yet-- it's still here--come by and check it out!)
Shop the collection (and all things plant-oriented) here.
See a round-up of our favorite photos from the installation here.
Note: Joe Gibson of Revolution Design House will share more about how this place influences the design he creates in a panel talk moderated by senior editor of GRAY magazine on the ICFF main stage on May 23, in NYC.
